The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences says 26 films qualified for consideration at 90th Oscar race for Best Animated Feature.
AMPAS said in a press release quoted by media on Friday that "several of the films have not yet had their required Los Angeles qualifying run. Submitted features must fulfill the theatrical release requirements and comply with all of the category’s other qualifying rules before they can advance in the voting process.”
“Depending on the number of films that qualify, two to five nominees may be voted,” AMPAS addes.
This marks the first time the entire eligible voting membership of the academy can partake in nomination stage of the Animated Feature Film category in the next Oscar event.
Nominations for the 90th Academy Awards will be released January 23, 2018.
Among qualified animated features at Oscars 2018 awaiting consideration by the Academy for the nomination process include ‘The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales’, ‘The Boss Baby’ and ‘Birdboy: The Forgotten Children’.
